"As the lender of a military administration. I accept absolute responsibility for all decisions taken under my watch, June 12 happened under my watch. Mistakes, oversights happened in quick succession, But in all matters, we acted
in the supreme national interest so that Nigeria could survive.
Our nation's march to democracy was Interrupted and no less hurt. But Nigeria survived and democracy is alive.
This book- A Journey in Service - is part of my personal story of this encounter with our national history. I did not travel alone. I undertook the hard walk of leadership in the company of man patriots.
Many of them are still here while others have passed on I can not name all our allies and fellow travelers. The nation gave us an opportunity to make a difference and we did.
Let the conversation continue in the service of a better understanding of our history."
