Former Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, recently met with former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to discuss Nigeria’s political future and the need for collaborative efforts to address the nation’s challenges.
Okonkwo, a veteran actor-turned-politician and once a vocal supporter of LP’s Peter Obi, shared details of the meeting on Instagram, describing it as a “privilege and honour” to engage in consultations on charting a new course for Nigeria.

“The situation in Nigeria today demands the collective effort of all well-meaning citizens to restore our country to its rightful path of progress,” Okonkwo stated.
His meeting with Atiku follows his resignation from the Labour Party, citing concerns over Obi’s failure to strengthen the party into a formidable alternative. He previously criticized Nigeria’s political leadership, warning that entrenched elites were stifling the emergence of true democratic governance.
While Okonkwo had earlier ruled out joining either the PDP or APC, his engagement with Atiku has fueled speculation about his next political steps. However, he has not formally declared any new party affiliation, maintaining that his focus remains on building a credible political movement for national transformation.
